Caitlin Horrocks is author of the forthcoming story collection This Is Not Your City (Sarabande Books, 2011). Her fiction appears in The PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories 2009, The Pushcart Prize XXXV, The Paris Review, Tin House, The Atlantic Fiction for Kindleseries, and elsewhere. Her awards include the Plimpton Prize. She is an assistant professor of writing at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Phoebe sponsors the annual Greg Grummer Poetry Award Contest. The author of the winning poem will receive $1,000 and publication in the Fall issue of Phoebe. Past judges have included Carl Phillips, Brenda Hillman, Charles Wright, Claudia Keela, and Robert Creeley.
Dan Beachy-Quick is the author of four books of poetry, North True South Bright, Spell, Mulberry, and This Nest, Swift Passerine, four chapbooks, Apology for the Book of Creatures, Overtakelesness, Canto and Mobius Crowns (both written in collaboration with the poet Srikanth Reddy), and a book of interlinked essays on Moby-Dick, A Whaler’s Dictionary. He is a contributing editor for the journal A Public Space. After graduating from the University of Denver, he attended the Iowa Writer’s Workshop. He has taught at Grinnell College, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and is currently teaching in the MFA Writing Program at Colorado State University. He is the recipient of a Lannan Foundation residency, and taught as Visiting Faculty at the Iowa Writer’s Workshop in spring 2010.

Phoebe is excited to welcome Shauna Cross as the judge for our first-ever nonfiction contest. Cross is a screenwriter and author, popular with critics and readers alike. Her own experiences in the world of roller derby sport inspired the novel Derby Girl. She later turned the novel into a screenplay for the movie Whip It!, an independent film. Cross is currently working on several screenplays for upcoming films.
