When this began, you dreamed
I owned a clay bowl
& I told you how at night,
the glow of the kitchen apples
meant something to me like desire,
their scarlet skins spent in a tangle

Or an object you hold in a dream
after it dissolves,
the weight of it still leaving
your hands.
