Catharsis

Black and white conte pastels and pencils

Jemah Curtis

is an emerging Australian artist and Arts/Law student at the University of Sydney. Her dramatized, monochrome self-portraits hinge on spiritual introspection, seeking to capture varying stages of self-reflection and the capacity that this process has to enable liberating growth. Working with a variety of mediums, most obsessively with conte pastel, Jemah is fascinated by the challenge of tackling realism with metaphor, as informed by her Christian faith. Jemah’s works have been exhibited across the beautiful Northern Beaches, where she lives, and are now being showcased in the U.S. journal sphere as she continues to expand her artistic collection.
