You’ve probably noticed that Phoebe is taking a big step: We’re now accepting nonfiction submissions.

That’s the what. But you probably don’t know the why.

Since 1971, Phoebe has been seeking and publishing the best in poetry, fiction and art that appeals to all of our human senses and pokes and prods at our human brains.

We know, too, that nonfiction writers are writing and publishing essays and pieces that appeal to our human senses and brains, that the pieces they are writing would fit well in Phoebe.

Now, we’re eager to watch that happen in real time. We hope you’ve read Patrick Barney’s rugged meditation on home and the powerful reflection Therese Halscheid wrote about her father.

We’re especially pleased that Phoebe’s offering its first-ever nonfiction contest, as well.

We want you to know there’s more to come, and we hope you’re as excited as we are about this new chapter in Phoebe’s history.

Please let us know what you think about Phoebe’s foray into nonfiction by leaving a comment below — or, even better, submitting your own nonfiction.
